The Lesslie, South Carolina area was rumbled around 4 a.m., Tuesday. A small earthquake occurred around 4:02 a.m. local time, approximately 1.8 miles north-northwest of the town of Lesslie, about 5 miles east of Rock Hill, South Carolina. This is the first earthquake in that area in recent history, but there have been over 100 minor earthquakes in the Lugoff-Elgin area since 2022. The largest earthquake in the Rock Hill and Upstate area was a magnitude 5.1 in 1916.

Around 4:02 a.m., the minor earthquake was located 1.8 miles (3 kilometers) north-northwest of the town of Lesslie, about 5 miles east of Rock Hill.

This is the first earthquake in that area in recent history, but there has been a "swarm" of over 100 minor earthquakes in the Lugoff-Elgin area of South Carolina since 2022. USGS lists that the largest earthquake in the Rock Hill and Upstate area was a magnitude 5.1 in 1916.
