How a vending machine is providing original work from Charlotte’s art scene
“The beauty of this is that as long as artists format their work to fit the machine, they can showcase their art without needing a full mural or a major museum.” Art in a Really Tiny Space (ARTS), a project created by artist Caro Yanez, aims to transform small spaces into micro-galleries using vending machines packed with original art by local creators. The first machine is located at Higher Grounds by Manolo's, inside Myers Park United Methodist Church at 1501 Queens Rd. Original works from 15 local artists are available in the machine, with prices ranging from $5 to $50. The project was funded by the City of Charlotte's Creative Growth Grant program, which aims to bring art into more neighborhoods and public spaces. The second location is yet to be announced.
