Fifth Third Bank hits 2028 goal for Charlotte-area branches and plans two more
The bank added three local branches in 2026. Fifth Third Bank (NASDAQ: FITB) has already achieved its 2028 goal of opening eight new Charlotte-area branches and plans two more. The bank will open 55 Southeast branches this year, with another 50 ready for 2027 and 50 more for the year after. The new branches are not publicly identified, but Fifth Third has filed federal paperwork for a second Fort Mill branch. The move comes after the bank pledged in 2023 to add eight branches in the Charlotte region, but has since added eight since then and plans 10. The Charlotte new-branch building program began in 2018 and targets 26 locations.
