CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A man was arrested after he allegedly inappropriately touched a female on a bus in uptown Charlotte earlier this week.

An arrest sheet filed by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said an officer responded to a sexual assault call along East 7th Street around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Once police arrived, the bus driver identified the man, 26-year-old Dhrupalkumar Patel, as the suspect.

The victim told police that Patel rested his hand underneath her clothes. Patel admitted to touching her, but said it was an accident.

He was arrested and charged with sexual battery. Court records show he was given a $3,500 unsecured bond and that he remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 29.

The arrest sheet said Patel is not a resident of the United States and was taking the bus to Boston.
