The provision was added to Piedmont’s pilot contract in 2021, allowing the company to offer pilots at carriers deemed “distressed” a safe haven for employment. Similarities were offered to ExpressJet pilots in 2022. Piedmon’�s new hire bonuses, pay and credits will include positive space travel to the training center in Charlotte to complete or resolve any outstanding paperwork. CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – Piedmont Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines announced today that it will provide employment relief to pilots at iAero Airways under Piedmont’s “distressed carrier” provision in its ALPA-negotiated pilot contract. The language, added to Piedmont’s pilot contract in 2021, allows the company to offer pilots at carriers deemed “distressed” a safe haven for employment, including longevity-based pay and bonuses. Piedmont offered a similar program to ExpressJet pilots in 2022.
“As Piedmont adds new aircraft and continues to grow, our need for experienced pilots is also growing. We are very pleased to offer iAero pilots an immediate conditional job offer, training support and significant bonuses to help in this difficult time,” said Edward Leverton, vice president of Flight. “Our goal is to provide stable employment to these experienced pilots and make transition to Piedmont as easy as possible.”
