Human remains found in Catawba County identified as woman missing since 2023
The human remains were discovered on a property in the 8000 block of East NC Hwy 150. CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Human remains that were recently discovered in Catawba County have been identified as a young woman who was reported missing last year.
The human remains were discovered on a property in the 8000 block of East NC Hwy 150.
Investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office said they’ve been working to learn the identity of the human remains that were found on Tuesday, March 26.
Investigators located items connected to Eileen Michelle Lavery. The 23-year-old woman was listed as a missing person by the Winston-Salem Police Department.
Lavery was last seen in March of 2023.
Authorities said Lavery’s dental records, analyzed during an autopsy performed on March 28, matched the human remains recovered by investigators.
The cause and manner of Lavery’s death remains under investigation.
The sheriff’s office is also working to establish why Lavery was at the Hwy 150 property at the time of her death. Anyone with additional information is asked to call 828-465-8340.
